Clean Slate Day 2
“I balance my life between work, rest, and play. They each are important and get equal time.”
How to stay on track during your busy life!
These days we are expected to work 8 hours a day, eat healthy foods, workout daily, meditate, have a social life and prepare an instagram worthy dinner before putting on a mud mask, taking a bubble bath and reading before sleeping soundly for 8 hours or more. This sounds like much more than 24 hours to me, amiright?
Even preparing food for the detox may see like a huge task and impossible to sustain for 14 days. But my hope is to make some of these healthy habits easier until they become routine. So if you are a busy professional, there are still ways to incorporate healthy eating, mindful practices, and self-care into your day.
I’ve said this before but preparation is key! Here are a couple tips to save time when you are on the go!
Meals in mason jars. The overnight chia or oats recipes have saved me many days when I hit snooze a few too many times. You prep the night before, grab the jar, and throw it in your backpack! I often save my morning time to make a quick smoothie to take as my mid-morning or afternoon snack. If you have a bullet or a singe serve blender you can even keep in in the cup and throw it in your bag with your breakfast. Same goes for lunch food- salad or healthy bowls in a big jar!
Cook once, eat twice. Not everyone is a fan of cold food but lucky for me I love to eat leftovers without even heating them up. Cooking a little extra is great to save time and money on lunch. Dinner on Monday, lunch on Tuesday—and so on.
Green hack your pack! Keep a green kit in your bag. I have a pouch with bamboo utensils and a metal straw. I keep a couple produce bags a reusable water bottle and coffee mug at all times, and tea bags. Instead of hitting Starbucks on your break- make some tea at the office and pass on the plastic straws!
Take a minute and chew your food. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve eaten in the car before teaching or not even realized what I was putting in my mouth before running into a class. Even if you are at your desk, take a moment of gratitude. Notice what you are fueling your body with. Taste and chew your food! You will be able to gage your hunger and satiety levels much better, eat intuitively and avoid overeating.
Happy packing- Your bank account and your belly will thank you!
